Chukwuma Odenigbo
Son-in-Law
Mummy...
(Yes Son)
I remember the first time we met in Wolverhampton during Iwuese's graduation, we spent the whole day together, we also sat together during the ceremony, we talked about my parents, you asked if I was born again, :), we spoke about my profession & my future plans. I remember you noticed Iwuese wore my jacket even though I had asked her not to (we laughed at that)
I remember our conversation when I told you about my intention to marry your daughter, I remember how we laughed at a joke you made...
I remember the wedding ceremonies, seeing you, aunty Mary and my Mum dancing. I remember the last minute 2 aside you & I had before you made your way to the airport... and you whispered something to me...
I remember our numerous trips to the airport, whether picking up or dropping off; our conversations, advice, prayers. Do you remember that Sunday Jide and Cheta were so excited to see you they hugged you so tight that you all fell to the ground in the kitchen. We laughed a great deal that day.
I remember our trip to Chichester, what a great time we had.. whole family together having as much fun as possible.
I remember the last time myself and Doomie dropped you and Daddy off at Birmingham international airport. I can still see your smiles and hear the words you spoke to me... 'alright son, take care for now and see you soon'. Even though we spoke on the phone several times after that, it never occurred to me that ...
I remember the last time we spoke, we laughed at my saying 'sanu' and you said you would teach me more hausa when we saw again.
We were busy making plenty plans about that 'weekend' when you and Dad would arrive the UK, everybody was coming from all over... only for us to hear this terrible news :(
I still have all the bible verses you sent me... I read some; :) I have our lengthy WhatsApp messages with plenty of heart emojis... I still remember what you whispered to me... I'll hold on even stronger to it and wouldn't let go. Your grand-children will miss you loads Ma. I miss you Mummy. I remember all your prayers for God's favour for all of us. Thank you so so much for all the love, advice, succour you gave to us all. In your own words, 'it is well'.
I know you are watching over us all We love you Mummy and you will be missed.
